Drypoint portraits by Paul César Helleu

The Duchess of Marlborough, Consuelo Vanderbilt
Drypoint on wove paper

Ever since the last post about the etchings of John Register, I've been researching different printmaking techniques. While looking up drypoint, I came across the French artist Paul César Helleu. These artworks were created by scratching a needle into a copper plate which is later inked and run through a press.

  1. Very cool!

Do you use other mediums such as pen & ink or watercolor? :)

  2. Hi Valora, I'm glad you like it.
I don't use those mediums but I love the way they look.
