Passing By

Oil on Masonite, 12x9 inches

Above is my latest painting Passing By. I really enjoyed working on this piece. I started by massing in the overall shapes and slowly developed the areas that I wanted to be more detailed. When I first started painting, I would work on one area until it was fully completed before moving on to a new section. Although, I love the finished realistic look by working this way, I'm finding working on the whole piece at once to be more enjoyable. Also, I'm tending to leave sections of the painting soft and just sharpening the focal point and surrounding areas.

  2. Leah,
Gorgeous painting! I love the palette, simplicity of design and the soft focus. "Passageway" is another favorite.
Anthony's recent "Mneme" and "The Chase"... what can I say... Fabulous.

  3. Nice, Leah. There's a wonderful sense of mystery to it--feels almost like a still from a suspense movie. I like the use of lost and found edges and the simplicity of design.
